“2020 TDM Promotion Project”

* The 2020 TDM Promotion Project is holistically promoted as "Smooth Biz" together with teleworking and Flex-Biz (flexible working and commuting hours)

The Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 (“Tokyo 2020 Games”) are expected to attract a large number of Olympic Games related personnel and spectators from around the world.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Cabinet Secretariat. and the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee) shall act as the secretariat for the Tokyo 2020 Games with the aim of providing safe and smooth transportation services while ensuring the stability of the city and economic activities. They are promoting the “2020 TDM Promotion Project” in collaboration with the residents of Tokyo to reduce transportation congestion during the Games.

In addition to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the national government, and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, the Japan Business Federation, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai), the All Japan Business Committee, and other business organisations participated in the opening ceremony on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.

[2020 TDM Promotion Project] Actions

The “2020 TDM Promotion Project” is calling on businesses to participate in the “Smooth Biz” initiative to reduce traffic congestion by promoting teleworking and flexible working and commuting hours, as well as changing delivery times and routes.

  Businesses and organisations that have signed up will receive email magazines with updates on Games transportation and the latest useful information for implementing initiatives. Free consultation from our consultants is also available to help you implement your 2020 Action Plan for the Tokyo 2020 Games.

    Support for the development of 2020 Action Plans through briefings and individual consultations
  • ・Up to FY2018, briefings were provided to businesses (2,000 participants) and industry associations (2,800 participants).
  • ・In FY 2019, approximately 300 briefings and approximately 3,600 individual action plan consultations were conducted (*Project registration is required to use the service).
